March

Finished Radiotherapy.

Started Pilates - something gentle to stretch things out after surgery, chemo and radiotherapy, strengthen and tone after months of inactivity - mostly involving lying on the sofa a lot!  And eating far too much - at least I was lucky in this respect and didn't lose my appetite.

Went to the Petersfield Farmer's Market - always a pleasure.

Took part in my first scrub clearing task with my local conservation volunteer group - a gentle session, certainly didn't overdo it.

February

Well it's only February but I'm warming up to 52:52 (52 things in 52 weeks).

I've had so many ideas popping up that I know it's going to be more than 52.  This month I have:

Made Marmalade.

Started a yoga class - after a long break and needing some gentle strengthening and flexibility after surgery and chemo.

Picked up my knitting - often gets started and then left for months.  Didn't have the concentration to do it while going through chemo.

Signed up for the Brighton Race For Life in July.

Started training - OK, it's only the Couch to 5k programme but the weather is getting warmer, the days are getting longer and it's a nice gentle way to ease myself back into something more than short walks.

Welcome

Welcome to my 52 Things in 52 Weeks blog.

I was inspired to start this after listening to a programme on BBC Radio 4 about a father and son team who where completing 125 Adventures around the UK to celebrate National Geographic's 125th Birthday.

My list is not intended as a bucket list and some of the 'things' will be simple pleasures.

It's purpose is to keep me motivated and get me out and about over the course of the year, try new things and do things I haven't done for a while.   But who knows where it will end up.  I plan to complete in a few challenges along the way.

It's about fun and inspiration and enjoying life and hopefully will inspire others too.

It's also a way to raise funds for three of the charities that have the most impact on cancer in the UK and who I've been most closely associated with and supported by over the last few months.

You don't realise the impact of a cancer diagnosis until it hits you or someone close to you.  One in three of us will get cancer over the course of our lives.  The more we can do to fund the research into the causes and treatments of cancer, the more people will survive.

Feel free to read, enjoy, comment and of course if you feel inspired to contribute to my fund raising - for some very worthy causes - thank you.
